One thing we’re often asked (especially at this time of year) is how to wrap an odd shaped gift.  Well, the easy answer is to pop it in a gift bag with some tissue paper, but of course that’s not always the best solution…

You may not have a gift bag to hand (and it’s an expensive way to gift wrap if you have lots of awkward shaped gifts).  You may not be able to find a gift bag that is large enough for your gift. Or you may be gifting to a child and want the contents to remain secret until Christmas day (peeking is all too easy with a gift bag)!

How to wrap an odd shaped gift

1. Use paper plates to make a more uniform shape to wrap

This clever idea uses square paper plates to make your gift less awkward to wrap.  Check out the full tutorial at Brit + Co.

You will need:

PRO TIPS:
Use a little double-sided tape to stick the plate to the wrapping paper.  This will stop it from slipping while you wrap the gift.

2. Use wrapping paper to make this clever DIY gift bag

Don’t worry, this method is far easier than it looks.  Simply follow along with the video below…

You will need:

PRO TIPS:
Add issue paper as a first wrap for your gift if it has an sharp/sticking out bits, as this will prevent it from ripping your paper pouch.
Use double-sided tape to create a hidden seam along where you join the two sides of paper.

3. Use tissue paper and cellophane

This method is ideal to wrap a bottle, vase, or sphere-shaped gift.  Watch the video to see how Nashville Wraps makes the tissue paper flower toppers.

You will need:

  • tissue paper
  • cellophane
  • ribbon or twine
  • scissors

PRO TIP: Use a hair bobble instead of ribbon to add a quirky personalised topper and tie the cellophane in place.

4. Ask someone else to do it!

Seriously, ask The Paperdashery – we’d love to do it for you.
This method is best if you really dislike or don’t have time to gift wrap.

You will need: to visit our gift wrapping service page for full details and prices, then relax while we wrap for you.
